Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to make its debut in July, as per recent reports. Thanks to several leaks related to the handset, we now have a clear picture of the hardware specifications of the upcoming book-style foldable phone. Most recently, the wireless charging specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 have been reportedly spotted on the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) website. The listing indicates that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will offer support for the Qi 2.1 standard, just like the Galaxy S25 series.
A smartphone surfaced on the WPC website with the model number SM-D637U (via 9to5Google). The WPC entry includes the model number SM-D617D for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and SM-D269N for the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, respectively. As a result, the new listing is expected to correspond to the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
The listing indicates the phone will offer support for Qi 2.1 wireless charging. However, it is expected to support the Baseline Power Profile (BPP), not the full Magnetic Power Profile (MPP) standard. This indicates that the handset will arrive without built-in magnets for wireless charging or magnetic accessories.
If the listing does belong to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Samsung's next foldable will need a separate case with built-in magnets to properly align wireless chargers or use magnetic accessories.
For reference, the Galaxy S25 series also came with the same Qi version and BPP support. Users have to use a Qi2-compatible case for the Galaxy S25 series phones to access this charging technology.
Previous leaks suggested that the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 foldable smartphone will house a 4,400mAh battery, like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. The handset is expected to offer support for 25W wired charging.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to be unveiled in July alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 7. It will ship with Android 16-based One UI 8 and could feature a Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy SoC under the hood.
